A one-handed gaming controller concept focused on accessibility and ease of use. In Phase 1, we developed an augmentation for the existing Xbox controller. Building on those insights, Phase 2 introduced a completely new controller design.

Non-functional prototypes led to semi-functional prototypes made from various materials. The final proof of concept was 3D printed and was fully functional.
Phase 1 final design
Building on Phase 1 insights that the existing Xbox controller was nearly usable one-handed with a modified grip, we developed the ‘Archer’ concept—a unified controller designed for both one- and two-handed gaming. This approach enhances accessibility and improves gaming performance for all users, regardless of if they are gaming with one or two hands.
The controller body was refined through feedback from a user with 95th percentile hands, and another with 10th percentile hands. The button surface was sculpted so each button could be found by feel alone.
